We search for a Master student (Plant Science, OEP or other master programs) interested in molecular systematics and barcoding.
Marine slugs of the group Sacoglossa sequester chloroplasts from algae. These chloroplasts are partly not digested but stored and then enable the slugs to perform photosynthesis. In order to identify the algal origin of these chloroplasts a molecular approach using “DNA-barcoding” will be performed. The challenging parts of this project are i) to establish a plastid based marker system suitable for green algae and to ii) build a reference library.
