Research project

I am interested in functional floral and nectary morphology and evolution. My focus is on the evolution of floral architectures and how nectaries are integrated and contribute to floral function.

Besides 'classical' methods, such as scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy I employ 3D-based approaches based on micro-computed tomography (µCT). The results are interpreted and analysed in the context of the recent phylogenetic understanding of the focal groups.

My main study groups are the Geraniales and Boraginales, but I am interested in a variety of plant groups and morphological phenomena.

Internships, projects, theses etc.

Please contact me via email, if you are a student of the University of Bonn and interested in working on flower morphology, development and evolution using scanning electron microscopy or micro-computed tomography.
