During my PhD I will look at evolutionary and ecological processes determining today’s diversity distribution patterns of bryophytes in tropical mountain rainforests. Bryophyte samples collected in standardized plots on the three major tropical landmasses (represented by Uganda, Papua New Guinea and Ecuador) will be analyzed regarding (amongst others) variation in community richness and composition, and the impact of diversification rates.
