The research group of Prof. Dr. Maximilian Weigend studies plant systematics and evolution, taxonomy, biogeography and conservation, as well as pollination ecology, useful plants and secondary metabolites. It collaborates closely with scientists across Europe and in North and South America, but also in Asia. Particularly close ties have been established with Università degli Studi di Firenze (Florence, Italy), Sao Paulo University (Brazil), the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima, Peru).
Maximilian Weigend is director of the Botanische Gärten der Universität Bonn.
